He Assistant Physician in the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service of the Gregorio Marañon University Hospital, Francisco Han, from Toresano, took over Chairman of the General Assembly of the Osteosynthesis and Traumatology Foundation (OTC)A interactive global network of surgeons and scientistsdedicated to the promotion of surgical treatment of fractures.
With her appointment as the new president of the international organization, Chana is taking another step in her brilliant career as an award-winning orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist.
A doctor from Toresan takes the reins of government into his own hands. The General Assembly of the OTC Foundation, which, as explained by the Gregorio Maragno General University Hospitalis the statutory body that coordinates all activities of the organization, strengthening and maintaining an international network of alliances around the world based on evidence and trauma care through education, research, clinical improvement and professional networks.
The organization includes 19 national OTC “branches” on five continents, to which it offers “general services” that extend to other subsidiaries with which it interacts through general meetings. In addition, all OTC “national chapters” organize numerous courses with highly qualified surgeons to improve trauma management and encourage “international focus”.
Once his appointment is formalized, Chana takes on the task of leading an international association of surgeons and scientists, primarily dedicated to the advancement of fracture treatment.
Research
Francisco Chana, studied at the Amor de Dios School and at the Cardenal Pardo de Tavera de Toro Institute.. He graduated in Medicine and surgery for University of Salamanca and completed his PhD at the Complutense University of Madrid..
In addition, he specialized in orthopedic surgery and traumatology at the Gregorio Maragnón University General Hospital, joining the service as a Physician Assistant in 2009.
The traumatologist from Torosano is also an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid and combines his work with extensive research activities. After serving as President of OTC Spain from 2017 to 2019 and new President of the General Assembly of the OTC Foundation from 2021 to this year, he now takes over the reins of the organization and will hold this position until 2025.
Dr. Toresano has also received various awards for his work and research. Thus, together with other specialists from the Madrid Hospital, he received recognition from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) for surgical techniques that opened up new approaches to revision surgery for hip and knee arthroplasty, an award chosen by traumatologists from all over the world.
