Revolutionary change in electric vehicles

After four years of design, modeling and simulation, a 25-person team of engineers and researchers from CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research), Stellantis and Saft, unveiled today an innovative battery prototype that combines the functions of an inverter and a battery charger.
The demonstration plant, in operation since summer 2022, is the subject of numerous patents and represents a major breakthrough in power conversion systems currently in use. The project allowed approve many new technical concepts and master their management and operation as a preparation for automotive or stationary power supplies.
In the field of electromobility, the IBIS project going to make a real paradigm shift in the design of electric drives.
In IBIS, the electronic conversion boards that perform the functions of the inverter and charger are installed as close as possible to the cells of the lithium-ion battery. Sophisticated control system allows you to generate alternating current for the electric motor directly from the battery.
