ALICANTE. (EFE).- LThe rector of the University of Alicante (UA), Amparo Navarro, appointed Elena Ronda, professor in preventive medicine and public health, as coordinator of the degree in medicine. This is stated in the message of the academic institution.
The appointment, which this Monday is published in Official Bulletin of the University of Alicante (BOUA), This became known during a meeting of the Medical Commission chaired by the rector himself, to which Ronda had just joined.
The commission, which meets once a month to review the implementation of the new degree, includes Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Magdalena García Irles; Dean of Medical Sciences José Antonio Hurtado and Vice-Chancellors for Research, Quality and Languages Francisco Torres; for academic organization and educators, Luis Martinez; and for infrastructure, sustainability and work safety, Salvador Ivorra.
Professor Ronda, who currently chairs the Department of Community Care, Preventive Medicine, Public Health and History of Science at UA, has a strong background in teaching and research.
She received her medical and surgical degree from UA in 1988 and her PhD with Distinguished Honors in 1997. She is a specialist in preventive medicine and public health and a researcher at the Occupational Health Research Center.
From 1998 to the present, she has been a faculty member at the Resident Trainee Training Center in Preventive Medicine and Public Health at San Juan Hospital.
This is currently Lecturer at the Center for Migration and Health Studies at the University of California and director of the journal Archivos de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales.
With four five-year study periods and four active research periods that are the result of more than eighty JCR publications, Elena Ronda has supervised several doctoral dissertations and has participated in and directed fifteen educational innovation projects.
