Hyundai and Kia recall nearly 92,000 vehicles that could catch fire

Companies issued a recall warning for cars with faulty oil pumps, which could overheat and start a fire, according to a regulatory filing Thursday.

Both companies have advised customers with defective vehicles to park on the street until the part can be repaired. while those suspected of owning affected vehicles will be notified from September 25th.

Neither Hyundai nor Kia immediately responded to a Forbes request for comment.

In May, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also demanded that nearly 4 million Kia vehiclesafter regulators indicated that the airbag inflator fitted to these vehicles could explode when deployed, sending metal fragments into the vehicle.

The recall request mentions two fatal accidents, including a 2016 accident in Canada involving 2009 Hyundai Elantra. Kia has not yet issued a recall or alerted drivers to a possible problem caused by this part.
