Instagram is experimenting with a new option that allows users to entirely revamp the recommendations they receive on the platform. Meta has announced that the recommendations reset feature will be available worldwide in the near future, allowing users to clear the algorithmic content currently displayed in Feeds, Explore, and Reels.
The latest addition will be accessible to users across all age groups, including those with Teen accounts. “We want to make sure everyone on Instagram – especially teens – has safe, positive, age-appropriate experiences and feels the time they’re spending on Instagram is valuable,” Meta stated.
“We want to give teens new ways to shape their Instagram experience, so it can continue to reflect their passions and interests as they evolve,” the company added.
Users can easily clear recommendations with just a few taps, as stated by Meta, and the system will gradually begin to personalize again based on the accounts and content the user engages with. Users will have the opportunity to assess their current followings during the reset, allowing them to choose whether to unfollow certain accounts, which will aid in refining the new recommendations that emerge.
