The New Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is $30 Down During Black Friday

Amazon only released the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite last month, yet it is already reduced for Black Friday. The latest e-reader, which boasts faster page flips, a larger and sharper screen, and a longer battery life, is discounted to $130 ($30 down). This is the company’s first markdown on one of our top recommendations for the best e-reader since its launch.

The sixth-generation Paperwhite sports a seven-inch screen, which is substantially larger than the 6.8-inch screen on its predecessor. Amazon also improved the display’s contrast using its oxide thin-film transistor display technology, which may help minimize eye strain. It still has a warm light that you may adjust to match your room’s illumination. The front light of the new model is 25% brighter at its maximum level than the fifth-generation predecessor.

The new Paperwhite offers 25% faster page turns than previous models, which Engadget’s Amy Skorheim discovered makes a significant impact on the reading experience. (The review was for the more expensive Signature Edition, which has the same page turns.) At 7.8 mm thick, this is the tiniest Paperwhite ever.

The ereader retains IPX8 water resistance, and it features a new rubberized texture that makes it easier to hold. Amazon predicts that its battery will last up to 12 weeks on a single charge. It comes with a USB-C cable but no power brick.

You can also save on the new basic Kindle, which is on sale for $85 (down from $110). Although that model lacks warm light and has a smaller screen, it provides a lighter and more compact e-reader on a budget.
