37 more places to open at the Faculty of Medicine in the Basque Country

The Acting Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday at the proposal of the Ministry of Health allocation of €2,179,602 to the Basque Country to increase 37 places in medical education in the 2023/2024 academic year.

He royal decree The approved regulation regulates the direct provision of grants totaling 52 million euros, aimed at financing an increase of 706 places in the field of medicine at public universities in the 2023-2024 academic year.

This decree is also aimed at improve the quality of teaching for medical degrees and increase the number of physicians in the medium term graduates of Spanish universities to promote access to specialized medical training in the field of medicine.

In addition, a long-term increase in the supply of medical workers contributes as a partial measure against the shortage of medical workers in certain specialties.
